Christoph Müller Philipps Sohn is business owner and software developer at Virtuelle Horizonte, Gesellschaft für Neue Medien e.K. and its division VHRegister - Online Research Systems. Following his studies of computer science at the University for Applied Sciences in Coburg, Germany, Mr. Müller Philipps Sohn studied mechanical engineering with specialisation in combustion technology and computer aided product development at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Germany. He wrote his diploma thesis in cooperation with and at Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach, Germany, on the software evaluation of a high speed automation system for engine test beds and engine control unit (ECU) calibration. In 2012 Mr. Müller Philipps Sohn became a research assistant at the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics (LTT) at Erlangen-Nuremberg University and doctoral candidate (Supervisor: Professor Michael Wensing) in cooperation with AUDI AG in Ingolstadt, Germany. He conducts research and development on software simulation of waste heat recovery systems in highly dynamic automotive applications. In parallel to his scientific career in the engineering field he founded his company Virtuelle Horizonte in 1999 providing intranet software, database applications and website content management systems primarily for companies in the medical field. Since 2007 the online registry platform VHRegister is developed in close cooperation with the German Calciphylaxis registry (www.calciphylaxie.de). In 2011 this software was set up in 48 hours and used in a quick response action plan by the German Society of Nephrology to collect over 500 cases in the EHEC/HUS outbreak (www.ehec-hus.net).
